Call for Price Quotations
Within the framework of Covenant of Mayors’ EuropeAid/155713/DH/ACT/Multi Grant program, the Foundation to Save Energy, in collaboration with “Union of Communities” NGO, are implementing the “EU 4 Armenia’s Sustainable Energy” Project. The ESF invites for price quotations for measures aimed at raising public awareness in two Armenian cities.
«EU 4 Armenia’s Sustainable Energy» Project
Within the framework of the “EU 4 Armenia’s Sustainable Energy” Project, renewable energy promotion programs will be implemented in Aparan and Artik towns by the initiative of the “Foundation to Save Energy” (ESF) and the “Union of Communities of Armenia” (UCA) NGOs.
Training on financing SEAP/SECAP measures
On 27 November 2017, as a Supporter of the Covenant of Mayors, the ESF team helped deliver a training to all the Covenant of Mayors' Signatories on financing SEAP/SECAP measures. The training covered the current financing opportunities, the financing mechanisms and common decisions to be made by communities in their search and choice of financing tools.
Conference on Sustainable Industrial Development
ESF attended the First Regional Conference on Sustainable Industrial Development: “Promoting Sustainable Energy Solutions and Clean Technologies in CIS Countries” on 22-23 November 2017 in Vienna, Austria. The event was organized by UNIDO.
Celebrating Yerevan's first green lighting week
To celebrate Yerevan's first Green Lighting Week, the 24th PechaKucha Yerevan Night was called “LED’s Think Green” and featured the ESF Director with a talk on what Energy efficiency can do for people, cities and states. The event also featured speakers from the most active environmental organizations in Armenia, UNDP, Municipality of Yerevan, American University of Armenia. The participants talked about developing a green city, running efficient energy technologies and creating a great environment for everybody.
ESF - among Yerevan Climathon Mentors
Yerevan has actively embarked on its journey of implementing the SEAP adopted in 2016. In addition to negotiations on financing for major EE and RE investments, the city has an active calendar of events devoted to energy efficiency and climate change mitigation. On October 27-28, 2017 Yerevan Municipality and the Sustainable Energy Fund hosted a Climate Hackaton where some 30 young people competed on tasks proposed by the ESF to help mitigate the city air quality and carbon footprint. The winner team "Smart City" proposed a low-cost air quality monitoring solution with smart solutions for data synchronization and management.
highlighting the reforms in energy sector
Within the scope of the #EU4Energy week, a series of events took place from July 3-7 2017 in Yerevan and regions across the country to highlight the reforms in energy sector implemented with the support of the EU. The events also shared views on prospects for fostering sustainable energy in Armenia. Astghine Pasoyan, the Executive Director of Foundation to Save Energy, delivered trainings on energy efficiency in several regions of Armenia within the framework of the energy week. USDOS Professional Fellows program training
In June 2017 the Covenant of Mayors together with the USDOS Professional Fellows program held a training for Armenian Municipalities on utilization of renewable energy resources. ESF contributed to the event with a training module for the municipalities on financing renewable energy investments: sources, instruments, features. The participants were also introduced to the integration of RES measures on the example of Yerevan Sustainable Energy Action Plan developed by ESF.
Yerevan SEAP Adopted by the Elders Council of Yerevan
In June 2016 the Elders Council of Yerevan adopted the Sustainable Energy Action Plan for Yerevan aimed at reducing the greenhouse gas emissions by 21% by 2020, which also corresponds to 16% reduction in primary energy use. The ESF team developed this SEAP with support from UNDP and in close cooperation with the Development and Investment Programs' Department at Yerevan Municipality.
Energy Efficient Communities' Forum in Armenia
In June 2016, The Union of Communities of Armenia and the Foundation to Save Energy joined to establish the Energy Efficient Communities' Forum in Armenia. This Forum is aimed to serve as the platform for large and small cities, as well as rural communities to share their experiences and lessons learnt, support each other with their limited resources and build intra-national ties for implementation of energy efficiency, energy saving and renewable energy projects, and realization of already adopted Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs).
